This is best done with the old parts out of the grill. For cooking grids, the surface where you put your food, the critical dimension is front-to-back. These parts can be an inch or so narrower (side-to-side) and still be fully functional. If your North American Outdoors grill has Flame Tamers or heat plates, whose primary function is to vaporize drippings before they fall onto the burner, they also can be a bit wider or narrower than the original so long as they fit in the grill and cover the burner.
