Drill Size

Under construction

Drill size, or wire gauge drill size,  is a term used to describe the diameter of the hole "drilled" through an orifice. Gas passes through this hole on its way to the burner. The size is expressed as a number, the drill number, that indicates which size drill is used to bore the hole. For example, a #48 drill will create a hole with a diameter of 0.0768 inches.

The size of the hole is determined by a number of factors including the type of gas (LP is typically smaller than natural gas in a given situation), the BTU rating of the burners, gas pressure at the orifice, and BTU value of the gas. Refer to your owners manual or consult with a qualified gas technician to determine the exact size required for your grill.

As a service to our customers, we will drill the orifice for you, FREE of charge.
