Help Center - Frequently Asked QuestionsCan I convert my grill to liquid propane (LP) gas?We do not sell conversion kits and strongly recommend you contact the grill manufacturer for information regarding gas type conversions. In the event that you decide to convert your gas grill from one type of gas to another, we recommend that you contact a local gas appliance service company, or your local gas company, for assistance. In our experience, some manufacturers say that the grills were made for a specific type of gas and cannot be converted. Other manufacturers indicate that their grills can be converted, and some even offer the kits to do so. Some of the "big box" stores such as Lowes and Costco offer conversion kits for some of the grill models they sell. Should you decide to convert the gas type, we have many parts such as LP hoses and regulators, natural gas hoses with quick connect fittings, valves and orifices, which are useful for conversions. Some of the variables involved in gas conversions are: Regulators: For use with outdoor gas grills, Liquid Propane (LP) gas is stored in a tank (cylinder) under high pressure. Because of the high pressure, LP tanks are equipped with regulators that reduce the pressure (to about 11in WC) for use by the grill. Because natural gas pressure is typically lower, about 7in WC but can vary, natural gas grills do not have this regulator. Orifices: The orifice also acts as sort of a regulator in that the gas must pass thru a small hole in the orifice, which restricts the volume of gas that passes thru to the burner. The orifice hole size is dependent on a number of considerations including: gas pressure (natural gas is usually lower, resulting in slightly larger hole), altitude, BTU value of the gas (per cubic foot). Valves: Some valves, perhaps most, are designed specifically for either natural gas or liquid propane. Typically included in gas conversion kits.
