Spade connectors

Connectors are small metal parts attached to the end of a wire or grill part. In the grill parts world, they are most commonly used to connect a wire to either a spark generator, or an electrode (the part next to the burner that actually sparks and ignites the gas). Also frequently used to connect a ground wire to the spark generator in applications requiring a ground wire.

There are primarily two type of connectors, flat or round. The flat type is known as a spade connector. The round type is known as a round connector.

Male spade connectors are about 1/8” wide and sort of flat. The female connector is designed to slide, or clip over the male.

In the photo below, a wire with a female spade connector will connect to the male spade connector on the electrode.

NOTE: If you are buying wires, electrodes, or igniters to connect with existing parts, it is a good idea to confirm that the parts use the same type of connectors. For example: If you are buying an electrode that will connect to an existing wire, insure that the end of your wire has the same type of connector as the electrode your are purchasing. Manufacturers sometimes make small changes in parts as they redesign and rollout "improved" models. If needed, we have a variety of gender-changer and extention wires.
